Is Progresso Heights Director Receiving Death Threats?

An interesting revelation coming from our one-on-one with Elrington is that the director of Progresso Heights believes that his life is in danger should he return to Belize and testify in person.  While Elrington says that the judge found the so-called death threats baseless, the principal of the company has been allowed to testify via video link.

“The charge, however, is that whenever this matter has been called up there seems to be one excuse or another as to why you are unable to attend to have that matter disposed of.  They are saying [that] you’re either sick or you’re out of the country, your extensive travel schedule.”

“They didn’t tell you two weeks before [that] I finished one aspect of the case?  Two weeks before, because there was an application.  You see the unfairness about this whole thing and the perception that is given to the public is completely misleading and false, as is the case with that counsel for Progresso Heights, who, as I am emphasizing, has a pathological hatred for me.  But I was there the week before and in fact participated in the case, but the principal director of Progresso Heights and the principal witness is refusing to come to Belize.  He is refusing to come to Belize on the allegation that I am making threats to his life.  Now the judge found two weeks ago in open court that he did not believe any of that.  He did not believe any of that allegation.  Notwithstanding that, however, he formed the view that this man is genuinely afraid to come to Belize and therefore he will not have him come to Belize but ask him to give his evidence by video link.  That’s two weeks ago.  That’s tremendous facilitation for this man who on the evidence, who on the evidence found by the judge, has no real basis to proclaim that he is afraid.”

The matter resumes on Wednesday morning in Belize City.
