Stranded ship finally freed
After three and a half days aground near English Caye, the cargo ship Atlantis is once again back in business. The vessel, belonging to the Hybur Line, was pulled off the edge of the Belize City harbour channel shortly after four Thursday evening. A local tug and another Hybur freighter combined to free the stranded ship. The electrical problem, which made the vessel lose steering early Monday morning, was repaired and the Atlantis is presently unloading at the Belize City port. According to agents Caribbean Shipping Agencies, the shipment usually scheduled to arrive in Belize from Miami on Monday, will be pushed back to Tuesday for next week only. After that the regular Monday arrivals will resume.
