1000 Smiles for Cleon Holds 6th Disney Show Fundraiser
The Magic of Disney is an entertainment show for kids and adults alike and will take place this Saturday at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts in Belize City at six p.m. It will be filled with a number of Disney characters and there is also a line-up of Belizean artists that will take the stage in the three-hour presentation. It is the biggest fundraising event hosted by A Thousand Smiles for Cleyon, a non-profit organization that was created back in 2014 to assist children afflicted with cancer. The organizers are set and today News Five spoke with founder Michelle Rudon about what people can expect when they attend.

“This is going to be our sixth show, believe it or not, and we are so excited. We have a total new line-up of characters; it is going to be a big party at the Bliss. The children really go crazy for this show. The Disney show is our biggest fundraiser, but it has become much more than that. It has actually become an act of love as we put it because it is something done for the children of Belize. The children don’t have to have cancer to enjoy the show. This is just something that we do because it brings so much happiness, so much laughter and so much smiles to the children. And what I really like this year is that a lot of the adults have been reaching out and they are like we are more excited than our children; we can’t wait for this show and I like that. We are going to have Mickey and Friends; the Super Heroes, Jo-Jo Seewa, Super Mario Brothers and My Little Pony. And other than the Disney characters, which blow our mind every year because they bring a fantastic show, we also have a top notch line-up of Belizean performers. So it is going to be a good show from start to finish. We started out with eight children—actually we started out only with Cleyon and he is for whom the foundation is named after. We grew to five children and then we took on four more. Unfortunately, we lost five over the years. Right now we have four children in the foundation and we also have four little girls that do not have cancer, but who have special needs who we have been helping also for the past two years.”
The show starts at six p.m. and tickets are on sale at the Bliss or at Genesis Arts in King’s Park for twenty-five dollars reserve and fifteen dollars regular admission.
