Ship remains aground at English Caye
Word from English Caye is that the cargo ship Atlantis remains aground near the entrance to the Belize City harbour channel. The ship lost control of its rudder early Monday morning and ran up on a sand bank. The vessel along with sister ships of the Hybur Line, makes the run between Miami and Belize each week. Details of efforts to free to vessel are sketchy as the ship’s local agent, Caribbean Shipping, has declined to release information to the press.
