ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Police and coast guard have since been in the area since the report was made yesterday and today, police and coast guard are in the area, combing the area in order to try and locate Derrick Ramirez.”
Andrea Polanco
“Sir have you found anything to indicate what may have happened out there?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“At this point in time, no. We have not found any other than to say that those persons did approach Ramirez and one of those persons fired shots at Ramirez causing him to run from the area.”
Andrea Polanco
“Sir what do you make of that report given by those friends? The family is alleging that he may have been set up, lured out there and murdered.”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“I will say that the police has not gotten that information and if you go back to the briefing that was given you will see that he was along with his brother.”
Andrea Polanco
“So is there anything that the police can say what exactly you know may have happened? Did these men have any problems before? Is the investigation showing that there may have been some old beef or something?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“No, none that was reported to the police but I can say that we are following leads. As soon as new information becomes available the officers on the ground including Major Crimes Unit from Belmopan are following on those leads.”
Andrea Polanco
“At this time he is presumed missing, not dead?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Yes he is presumed missing.”
