Karon Gladden is Injured in Monday’s Deadly Shooting in Belize City
Twenty-eight-year-old Karon Gladden is one of two men injured during a mid-afternoon shooting in Belize City on Monday. While he was fortunate to have escaped with only a gunshot wound to the left hand, his friend, twenty-year-old Stephan McLaren, wasn’t so lucky. McLaren was shot once to the back of the head as he stood near the corners of Cleghorn Street and New Road. He was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police say the incident happened shortly before two o’clock when a lone gunman approached the pair and fired a single shot in their direction. McLaren’s family has told the media that the Cran Street resident had been threatened on a previous occasion and it is believed that the deadly shooting stemmed from drug activity in that neighborhood. No arrest has been made.
