Kareem and PM Barrow Trade Barbs on Ageing
Friday’s house meeting wasn’t without its share of banter and potshots. While there were a number of heated exchanges across the floor, the funniest tit-for-tat came by way of Caribbean Shores Area Rep Kareem Musa and PM Barrow. Musa mocked the prime minister about his age and PM Barrow wasted no time in responding to jab with quick wit.
Kareem Musa, Area Representative, Caribbean Shores
“Hubris has set in for you. Hubris has set in and you take pride in the fact that you won an election without even knowing the people of Queen Square, without even walking the ground. That’s not something to be proud of. You are out of touch Mr. Prime Minister. You are old, you are tired, it is time for you to go. That is what you need to realize. So Madam Speaker, I did say he’s old and tired.”
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“When you talk about who old and tired and noh wahn go. Bwai yoh fi tallk to yoh pa, da he yoh fi talk to. If I am sixty-eight then he must be seventy-six and da he di announce dat he di run again da Fort George. Dat da weh old and tyaad and need fi go.”
