Rains Won’t Come Until End of September
While rainfall is predicted towards the end of September and early October, the peak period between June and November would have already elapsed.
Ronald Gordon, Climatologist, National Met Service
“Having said that, most of the models that we look at for the long term are suggesting that rainfall will become normal heading towards the end of September, going into October.”
Isani Cayetano
“That will be then, for the fourth quarter of the year. So until December more or less. I know the hurricane season concludes at the end of November, but when does the rainy season conclude?”
Ronald Gordon
“Okay, we in Belize, the major part of our rainy season as you rightly alluded to is from June to November which is the hurricane season. We do have a transition period between December to February where it’s not really the dry season as yet. We call it a cool transition period where we can still have rains mostly due to cold fronts and so on, but you can have rain. However, again, the bulk of the rains should be from June to November which have been the dry spell for this year.”
