Was the shooting of teenager in Santa Elena Town linked to Nelson Flores’ murder?
Three persons are said to be in detention for the murder of Nelson Flores in Santa Elena, Cayo. Flores was at home with his family when a gunman entered his house and unleashed a barrage of bullets on Sunday night. Flores was rushed to the hospital but did not survive; his twelve-year-old daughter was also injured and is in critical condition. Tonight, police are investigating another shooting in Santa Elena. On Monday night, a gunman drove up and opened fire on three men assembled at a yard in the town. An eighteen-year-old was injured in the brazen shooting. The violence has left residents with unease and there are lingering questions on whether or not it is linked to the murder of Nelson Flores. Here is Dalila Ical with a report.

The zinc roof of a shed located inside this yard is riddled with bullet holes. These are the marks left after a lone gunman let loose as many as fifteen shots at three persons who were inside the yard yesterday night.
It happened sometime around nine o’clock at a residence on Perez Street in Santa Elena Town. While no one wished to comment on camera, we were informed that a teenager who police have identified as eighteen-year-old Arden Quiroz was seated alone under the shed. Two other men were at the other side of the yard.
A red pickup drove by and stopped down the street. One male person got out and approached the gate. He called out but no one responded. We are told that he then pulled out a firearm and fired several shots at Quiroz. He also turned the gun towards the other two men and fired in their direction; they sought refuge behind the house. When the gunman was done, we are told he ran back to the pickup and the get-away vehicle sped off.
Quiroz was hit once on his right arm and taken to the San Ignacio Community Hospital for treatment. The other two men were not hurt and none of the bullets hit the house.
There is credible information that three persons in detention for the Sunday night murder reside at the house.
