Police meet with residents in Santa Elena after recent gun violence

Police were back in the hot spots in Santa Elena Town this afternoon but not as part of their investigations into the two recent cases. Officer Commanding Superintendent Henry Jemmott and a team of officers were there to meet and speak with residents as part of the meet and greet programme. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams also joined the group. This is an activity the police conduct on a weekly basis, but the department found it important to walk through this area today.

Supt. Henry Jemmott

“The last incident that we had in this area and we thought that we need to come back into the area to reassure the public that we will do everything that we can do to solve the issues and the problems within this area. And so, it is just a form of coming back to the people to hear what they have to say and to reassure them that the police presence will be in this area”

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“From the people of this area how they feel about the work of the police, whether or not they believe that there is more the police can do to make them happy while giving them the assurance as to what we will be doing to ensure their personal safety.”
