But still, the winner not announced

As we said, among the revelry, one Senior band claimed that the wrong music was played during their Queen’s performance.  As Sunshine Masqueraders was performing their version of Queen Nefertiti, the music that was allegedly submitted to the Carnival Association was not cued in order for Tyesha Estrada to adequately play mas in her costume.  According to their band leader, they believe that it was an intentional attack by the Association in order for them not to place.  Both sides gave their perspective of what unfolded on the night of the Carnival King and Queen Competition.

“The procedure is that we ask the bands to send in their music from Tuesday. Because these music was to be taken to the DJ for him to put them on his system in the order of how these bands would have been coming out to perform. And for some uncertain reason we did not get a lot of the music until today.”

“We did send our music to Miss Allison another individual that is a part of the committee. I have proof that we sent the music. She said good, thank you very much received. So if there was a problem there and then it should have been indicated. She received our music, she verified that she received it before the competition even started they told us to go and check our music to ensure that it was there. The queen and the king went, listened to their music to ensure that it was there and when on the stage for the queen’s  performances, for the beginning of the music that was not here’s for her to display her costume. But when the music came on she noticed that it was not her music. So she tried to indicate to the DJ that that was not her correct music but the DJ continued to play it. But we were aware that the time was already running for her performance so we were trying to signal to here to keep dancing because the time was already running.”

“If you know that is not your song, you should have stopped and query and say that is not my music and then we would have gone from there. My thing is don’t wait until your time is up to say that was not your music. Because at the end of the day you need to blame yourself as well because you continue your time that was allotted to you.”

“In reference to what happened, King and Queen Competition night, in reference to how we are going to move forward as a carnival group. We will definitely speak with somebody higher up and we will need to discuss what will happen what will happen with Sunshine Masqueraders here on out. And in the future in terms of carnival competition and where we stand but never the less we are hoping that we get a good answer from the complaint and the letter that we are going to send to NICH in terms of our complaint.”
