And the winners of Carnival King and Queen 2019 are…
The results are in, and after two days of verification by auditors, the Belize Carnival Association announced this year’s top finishers for the Carnival King and Queen Competition that was held on Saturday night at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex. Moving up from third place in last year’s competition, Soca Moca Mas Band emerged as the Senior King and Queen with their presentation of King Horus and Queen Isis. Mother Nature Creation captured second place for the Senior Queen and third place for the Senior King category. Sunshine Masqueraders came in third for the Senior Queen and Black Pearl, formerly a junior band, staged the second place winner for the Senior King. In the Junior category, Soca Massive came out on top in both the King and Queen categories with King Peri and Queen La La. Pickstock Carnival Band came in second for the Junior Queen and third for the Junior King; whilst, Jump Street Posse came in third for Junior Queen and second for Junior King. As to the sixth Junior Band, Caribbean Uprising, they were initially in the line-up but did not participate in the competition. When we checked with the Association, we were told that they never made any formal withdrawal from the competition and as a result will no longer be able to participate as a competing band.
