Marisa Quan detained pending drug charges
Having marijuana in your house is a crime routinely committed by thousands of Belizeans…but when you are a public figure, getting busted is definitely not a good career move. Around noon today police searched the home of Ministry of Housing P.R. Officer Marisa Quan and found seven parcels of weed weighing a total of two and a half pounds. Quan, along with two other occupants of the house, were taken to Eastern Division headquarters where, at newstime, they were still being held. A police release says that charges of drug trafficking will soon be pursued. Quan first gained notoriety in 1998 when she was the UDP candidate for a seat in the House of Representatives from the Freetown Division. Following the PUP victory, she took up a post in the Ministry of Dickie Bradley, handling public relations for the Department of Corrections, Post Office and National Fire Service.
