MOE and DIGI sign MSA for DigiLearn
The Ministry of Education and Digi today signed an agreement as part of an initiative to roll out a new education tool across the country. Digi-Learn is a non-profit organization designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of students of all ages through technology and digital tools. The programme which brings together thousands of students via the internet was piloted in nine schools in 2017. Due to the success of the programme, the Ministry and Digi decided to roll out the initiative countrywide. Digi’s C.E.O., Rochus Schreiber, says that Digi-Learn will focus on cultivating an innovative economy for education technology start-ups and entrepreneurs.

“These tools will also given them lots of hope and excitement about the future because they will not only be connected with each other with their teachers but also with the world. Their minds will open. They will become aware of all the opportunities that exist and because they are young they don’t have fear. They don’t know the word impossible. They don’t believe there is something they cannot do. So once they see what can be done, once they get inspired by these opportunities that they become aware of they will go and make it happen. They will bring the world to Belize, but even more exciting, they will bring Belize to the world. It’s a two way street and it is a digital road that we are building. It’s a digital connection and Digilearn is the platform that will make this possible.”
