Special constable remains prime suspect in child’s murder

While they have not yet made any major breakthroughs in the murder of little Saida Noemi Godoy Veliz, Belmopan police are one step closer to solving that puzzle. Today News Five confirmed that police have statements from a few residents of Frank’s Eddy village, the place where Saida lived and attended school. Those statements are said to contain one common piece of evidence that links the girl to an ex-police volunteer special constable. According to eyewitnesses, Saida was seen getting inside a vehicle on the evening she disappeared on Friday March thirteenth. And inside the vehicle was a familiar face, the volunteer special constable who regularly visits the village. The vehicle, which had tinted windows, reportedly headed out of the village and towards the highway. No one would know where Saida was until Tuesday March twenty-fourth.
That was when police made the grisly discovery of Saida’s half-nude body in a ditch near a dumpsite in another location four miles away in Cotton Tree Village.

The little girl’s grandmother, Antonia Garrido, told News Five shortly after the discovery that she had sent the girl to look for an electrician in the village because her light was not working. But the standard four student never returned home. Police will now forward their file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for a directive on whether to charge that police special constable, who has since been dismissed from the Department.
