Local grocer hit by daytime robbers

A small Belize City grocery store was robbed this afternoon. Two armed men entered Charro’s store on Central American Boulevard around two o’ clock and held up the store’s owner, Teodoro Blanco and two of his employees. Blanco, who remained open for business, related the incident to News 5’s Jose Sanchez.

“I was busy with the phone when one of the guys came and pushed a gun right at my chest. The boy tell me not to make any noise or he will kill me. He took away all my cash in my shirt pocket and the small change in the draw.”

“How much did he get?”

“Over three hundred dollars cash and over fifty dollars in small change.”

“How many guys were here and what type of weapons did they have?”
Teodoro Blanco
“Two guys, one with gun and one with knife.”
Jose Sanchez
“Did you get a good look at their faces?”
Teodoro Blanco
“I didn’t have time because I was too busy with the phone.”

“Were they wearing masks?”
Teodoro Blanco
“Yes, they had on masks on their faces.”
Jose Sanchez
“What about the other employees, were any of them attacked?”
Teodoro Blanco
“Yes. They were attacked by the next guy with the knife. The one with the knife went to the girls and took away their chain.”
Police are investigating the robbery. Blanco has been a robbery victim once before and in that case the culprit was caught.
