Thousands of primary school children representing ten Belize City schools today filled the Civic as part of the annual Children’s Rally, held every year as part of the September celebrations. Held under this year’s September celebration theme, the rally highlighted students’ talents through different art forms. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Patrick Faber, advised the students to stay away from crime and accomplish their goals.
Patrick Faber, Minister of Education
“You can become anything that you want to be in life. How many of you believe that if you belief you can be whatever it is you want to be in life. Raise your flags. You can do it boys and girls. I want to encourage you to go after your dreams, go after your goals.”
The event also brought a list of Belizean artist and Oscar B who entertained the students. As part of the rally, the students were reminded about the importance of civic pride and patriotism.
Carla Alvarez, Belize District Education Centre Manager
“I think it is very important to show them that patriotism is important, that they are citizens of Belize and with being a citizen of Belize there is the responsibility that they have to show the patriotism, respect the flag, the country and prayer.”
