More Trouble Brewing at K.H.M.H.
The K.H.M.H. Workers Union is also dealing with another issue. A meeting was held this evening among medical officers who, as we understand, are experiencing labour-related issues. Union President Lidia Alpuche Blake would not share the exact issue until discussions are held, but hopes cooler heads prevail to avoid a suspension of medical services at the K.H.M.H.

“There is a big issue concerning the medical officers of this institution. They form a major part of this health care service in this institution. We have been dialoging but we have to find solutions that will work for everyone and the legal conditions we work and the legal way that we are compensated.”
Hipolito Novelo
“Is there the possibility of the result of that meeting or the result of the medical officers decide this evening would have any effect on the services that the K.H.M.H. provides especially over this long weekend?

“We pray it does not because this is the national referral hospital. This is a long weekend. There is a lot of work and there are a lot of people sick. We have to keep on providing health care to the nation. That is why we have been dialoging. We have been keeping abreast with the Labor Commissioner on this different situation and they are aware and they have been guiding us before we reach to that point of putting in other strike- I don’t even want to even want to say the word, halting services or whatever. We do not want to do that.”
