PC Clifford Castillo Dies in a Traffic Accident on the Placencia Road
Several police officers have lost their lives in recent road traffic accidents across the country. Over the weekend, the third person to perish in an R.T.A. was Police Constable Clifford Castillo. The cop had just gotten off duty, working at an event in Placencia, and was heading home on Saturday morning when he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding. News Five is being informed that even though P.C. Castillo wore protective gear, he suffered severe head and bodily injuries when the motorcycle slammed into a lamppost between miles seventeen and eighteen on the Placencia Road. He was rushed to the hospital, but died. ACP Joseph Myvett shares details.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Police were called to an area between miles seventeen and eighteen on the Placencia Road on Saturday morning sometime around eight-thirty a.m. where upon arrival they observed a red in colour Lifan motorcycle extensively damaged that was northbound and a distance away, they observed the body of Police Constable Clifford Castillo who upon their arrival was unresponsive; however, he was still removed from the area and transported to the southern regional hospital and later to the K.H.M.H. where he succumbed to the injuries that he had received from the incident. What we know so far is that he was travelling northbound from Placencia towards Maya Beach, where he is stationed, and he apparently lost control of the motorbi9ke between miles seventeen and eighteen.”

“So he was going to work when this happened?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“He was coming from work, we believe, as he had worked a function for a few hours that morning and he had just come off duty sometime after seven a.m.”
