Works on Civic to Continue Promptly
Two weeks ago, fifty-nine-year-old Roque Jimenez and Orlington Stuart plunged to their deaths inside the Civic Center in Belize City. The men were not wearing any protective gear while on a scaffold working on the installation of insulation when they fell and died. The work was halted but Minister of Sports Patrick Faber Faber says that it will resume promptly.
Patrick Faber, Minister of Sports
“There is nothing faulty with the construction of the civic. That work is done and over with. This is an absolutely quality job. The kind of insulation that is being done has to do with the acoustic. We have an acoustic experts come in and they studied the situation here in the civic and they recommended that they do that kind of installation so we do good quality and surround sound. It was then that BIL contracted that company to ensure that we had that. That was the word that was going on. It had nothing to do with the initial construction or any kind of faultiness in terms of the construction of the civic. We are hoping that that would get back on track pretty soon.”
