Dr. Colin Young Leaving S.S.B.
Doctor Colin Young has decided to move on from the Social Security Board. He took the post of Chief Executive Officer in January 2017, but less than three years after Young decided not to seek the renewal of his contract. His decision was announced via an email which he wrote to the staff, telling them that the Board has been informed of his departure. In the email, Young writes “after deliberate thought and much self reflection, I informed the Board of Directors at its meeting of September twenty-sixth 2019 that I will not seek to renew my employment contract upon its expiration at the end of current year. Therefore, I will proudly conclude my engagement as Chief Executive Officer.” In the letter Young reminds the staff of the journey they embarked on at the start of 2018 saying “S.S.B.: Refreshed and Empowered. While we will did not get to finish this bold journey together, I am confident that you collectively continue to assiduously work to realize and attain the outcomes envisioned.” The Board of Directors has commenced looking for a Young’s successor. Young’s tenure is notable for an increase in Social Security contributions from employee and employers.
