An Expo for Older Persons
As you heard just now, the National Council on Ageing launched a campaign to increase accessibility to basic services for overlooked groups including older persons and persons with disability. As a part of today’s activities, the N.C.A. also held an expo featuring free health services, self-care information, and other essential services available for these vulnerable groups. N.C.A.’s Ixchel Poot shares more about today’s expo:
Ixchel Poot, Executive Director, National Council of Ageing
“There are eighteen booths set up. You can get health screenings done. Older persons can visit the Digicell and DYS booth and learn how to text, how to check their balance, how to become tech savvy. We also have care giving tips and direction for families who are caring for older persons and need assistance with care giving. There is also the distribution of mobility aids today.”
