New U.S. ambassador chosen by Bush
The position is not one of royalty, but in any country the ambassador from the world’s only superpower occupies a position of some importance. In the case of Belize, U.S. President George W. Bush has recently announced his choice of ambassador. He is Russell F. Freeman, a lawyer from Fargo, North Dakota. A brief release from the U.S. Embassy says that Freeman has worked extensively with the Fargo Cass County Economic Development Corporation, as well as serving as president of the Fargo School Board. Freeman, a political appointee, as opposed to a career diplomat, is also presumably a strong supporter of President Bush. It may be a while until he reaches Gabourel Lane, however, as the nomination must first be presented to and confirmed by the U.S. Senate, a process which often proves lengthy.
