Unidentified cyclist killed while riding on W. Hwy

Story Picture
An unidentified bicycle rider is dead tonight after he was hit by a truck on the Western Highway. The accident happened around 11:30 this morning when the man, around sixty years old and of Creole descent, apparently swerved into the center of the road, near mile three and was hit by the F-350 truck belonging to Texaco Belize Limited. The truck’s driver, forty-three year old Anthony Morris, told police that he was heading in the direction of Hattieville and saw the cyclist riding erratically toward him. He tried to avoid a collision, but the cyclist cut in his direction at the last minute. Witnesses say the rider appeared to be intoxicated. Police are asking anyone suspecting the identity of the victim to please come forward. The body, which lay on the road for an extraordinarily long time, now resides at the K.H.M.H. morgue.
