B.E.L. regains Mexican power
Belize Electricity Limited is breathing a little bit easier tonight as it appears that the power supply from Mexico is back on track. The big Merida Three plant returned to service as scheduled on Friday night and the Commision Federal de Electricidad has been selling Belize twenty-five megawatts of electricity ever since. If the supply remains steady–and that is not a given since the plant has a long history of problems–then one of three turbines at the Mollejon hydro plant will be taken off line for scheduled maintenance. The servicing was delayed for over a month due to the power crisis in Mexico.
