Caye Caulker Preparing for High Season
The high season for the tourism industry is fast approaching and stakeholders from key tourist destinations are reinforcing security measures to ensure that their guests can remain carefree during their visit to the Jewel. On La Isla Cariñosa, Caye Caulker Village Chairperson, Seleny Villanueva-Pott has been meeting with the police on the island and mustering much needed support from the community to maintain safety on the island.

“Before we venture off into the high season, the village council has a very good relationship with the police department out here; it’s the same this time around. We normally have a plan to see if the police feel that they are capable of handling the high season or if not, we always send for extra additional support from Belize where on the weekends, we have additional policing on the ground just to create a sense of security—not only for our residents, but for our guests as well—to give them a sense of being free and safe while vacationing on Caye Caulker.”
