P.U.P.: “We Need Write Off Mister PM”
The P.U.P.’s release titled “We need write-off Mister PM;” is in obvious reference to the loan write off to the son of the Cabinet secretary. The release states that the government, and the Minister of Education continue to trumpet the critical importance of education, yet they are prepared to remove access to education from these students, in a matter of days. The P.U.P. points to the double standard of the forty-thousand-dollar loan to Joshua Perdomo, adding that G.O.B. would have continued to pay over two hundred thousand dollars annually to the daughter of Foreign Minister Wilfred Elrington were it not for public outcry. It also knocks the government for not increasing subvention when enrolment has increased at U.B. All in all, the P.U.P. is taking issue that family and friends of government are afforded financial benefits, but it is prepared to allow the university to kick out over one hundred students who cannot meet their financial obligations.
