Taiwanese Navy visits next week
A traditional attraction for joining the U.S. Navy is summed up in the slogan: “See the world”. And the same may be said for the navy of the Republic of China on Taiwan. On Monday of next week three ships of the Taiwanese Navy will drop anchor in Belize City harbour and stay for a three-day goodwill visit. The two frigates and one supply ship comprise a training squadron for midshipmen. A welcome ceremony will take place Monday at three p.m. at Memorial Park after which the squadron’s one hundred and sixty member marching band will perform for the public. When not venturing halfway around the world cementing friendships, Taiwan’s Navy is actively engaged in the defence of the nation from any threat posed by mainland China to reincorporate what it believes to be its renegade province.
