Education Minister Pleased With CSEC Performance

Patrick Faber

Ahead of the CSEC and CAPE award ceremonies to be held on November twenty-ninth in Independence, the media asked Minister of Education Patrick Faber about the outstanding performances by students at the Corozal Junior College and Edward P. Yorke High School. While there is room for improvement, Faber says that the government is pleased with the students who continue to put Belize at the top of the regional exams.

Patrick Faber, Minister of Education

“It is a success story every year that we are able to see so many more students take the CSEC examinations. Of course this is in no small part because of the government’s intervention and the government is paying for up to six CXC or CSEC exams for these students. We are very proud of that and very proud that more and more students are taking these exams and putting Belize on the map. In the initial days of us paying for these exams, we saw instances where students were signing up for the exams and not turn up and I wanna say how pleased we are that that is dwindling; that people who now have the government make this kind of investment are indeed taking that investment seriously.   Of course there is always room for improvement and we are particularly pleased this year at our top performers; I think they have done well. The government gets an additional feather in its cap because the two top performers are from a government school once again; one of the better schools in our country.”
