A Neighbourhood Dispute Led to Shooting of Minor
It has not been a good week for minors, three of whom have been victims of gun violence in less than twenty-four hours. The youngest, a one-year-old baby was asleep with her grandmother inside their house when she was struck by a bullet. Sixteen-year-old Chantuse Martinez was also injured in the gunfire on Sunday night. By Monday night, fourteen-year-old Trishelle Tillett was injured. She too was sleeping in her house when she was awoken by gunshots and soon realized that she had been hit. While Trishelle was treated and released, Chantruse remains in a critical condition at the K.H.M.H. Today, Superintendent Alejandro Cowo spoke on the incident.
Supt. Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Eastern Division
“The minor is alleging that about 10:40 she was inside her bedroom when she heard several shots and realized that she was injured. She was treated and discharged the following day from the K.H.M.H. At this time, police are looking for two male persons that can assist with this investigation.”

“What is the police investigation showing as the motive for this shooting?”
Supt. Alejandro Cowo
“We have interviewed several family members and we were made to understand that apparently it is a dispute between one of the family members and persons within that immediate area.”
