Will Others be Charged for Zheng Liu’s Murder?
On Tuesday, Joseph Vaccaro, a resident of Neal Pen Road, was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court for the murder of well-known businessman Zheng Liu. Liu was executed near mile four of the George Price Highway after receiving a call that a vehicle he imported had broken down on the road. He picked up the associate and went to the area and within minutes was shot at close range; his body was removed from his vehicle and dumped on the side of the road. Vaccaro’s mother has since told News Five that while her son was there, he was not the gunman and that others should be charged in connection with the homicide. Today, Superintendent Alejandro Cowo told the media that others may be charged.
Supt. Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Eastern Division
“On Saturday, police arrested and charged Joseph Vaccaro, twenty-seven years old of a Neal Pen Road address for the crime of murder. I know that we had other persons in custody and police are still working in this investigation. He was one of the suspects that was found inside of the vehicle of Mister Zheng.”

“And nobody else was there?”
Supt. Alejandro Cowo
“We will just not disclose the rest of the information at this time Mister Moody. As I mentioned, yes the investigation is still ongoing. We had several suspects detained that were released, but the investigation is still open and we will continue with that investigation. It does not mean because only Mister Vaccaro was charged that means that he will be the only person.”
