Police Department to Give Edwardo Wade Official Funeral
Sixty-seven-year-old retired police officer Edwardo Wade was among the seven persons who perished in the horrific traffic accident on Wednesday afternoon. Wade was inside a red SUV which was being driven by his daughter, Lourdes Wade, who also died along with Mayra Alcoser. The trio was heading back to Belmopan when Lourdes attempted to overtake a car, slamming head-on into a white passenger van which was being driven at the time by Errol Belisle, a well-known tour guide. The crash ultimately killed three American tourists and four Belizeans. Edwardo was a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police who greatly influenced Police Commissioner Chester Williams. Williams says that an official police funeral will be held for Edward, who gave decades of service to the force and country.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“It is only fitting that not only for what he did for me but what he did for the department and the country because I am sure that many will agree that he served many years with distinction and honor. He was a no nonsense type of officer and so it is only fitting that the police department give Mr. Wade the final respect and so we are going to have an official funeral for Mr. Wade. The police department will be having the funeral just as if he was a serving member of the department so we will do our best to bid him that final farewell and respect after serving this nation for over thirty seven years as a police officer.”
