Dead body identified; no leads yet
A dead body found yesterday off the Western Highway has been identified as a murder victim, but not much else has become known about the crime. What police have figured out is that thirty-two year old taxi driver Hugo Garcia, a Salvadoran living in Belize City, failed to return home on Saturday night. His fire-ravaged vehicle was discovered on Sandhill on Sunday and Garcia himself was found on Tuesday morning in a mudhole near mile eight and a half, with one hand tied and his skull crushed. Police have no leads and are asking the public for assistance.
