Musician introduces first CD
After four years of song writing and studio work, Belizean Albert Gill has released his debut CD titled “Tribute to a king”. Gill, a former singer and musician with the Harmonettes Band, says the inspiration for his twelve track CD came from reggae legend, the late Bob Marley.

“I started writing music back in 1981. The first song on the CD that I wrote is “Third World People”. “Green Revolution” was one of my latest since I moved back into the country in ’91.”

“Is there a particular favourite, and why?”

“The particular favourite is wake up and work for our rainforest needs replenishing with new plants (Green Revolution). So I wrote that specially for that purpose, for planting as much trees as we can back into the rainforest.”
“The theme is love. Get rid of the hurt that has dwelt amongst us and start being more productive and creative to our self here in the country.”

“You’ve already sold a number of songs off your CD to a famous person, tell me more.”

“Well that was a blessing that came to me when I had the restaurant at Sun Breeze, Rasta Pasta. That’s when Sherri Belafonte came through and we did a show together.”

“What did she buy the songs for?”

“She bought it for the Jamaica segment on her travel tour guide or something like that.”
“They’ll be missing out if they don’t buy my CD. There are a lot of beautiful songs on the CD and they can get familiar with them. It’s a good vibe.”
The “Tribute to a King” CD can be bought for twenty-five dollars a copy at record stores in the city and at Rasta Pasta Restaurant and gift shops in Placencia Village. Gill and his current band “4+1” can be enjoyed on a regular basis at various nightspots on the Placencia peninsula.
