A New Pre-school for Dangriga Is Coming Soon

Patrick Faber

Earlier today, ground was broken by the Ministry of Education to construct a new pre-school building in Dangriga.  On hand for the brief ceremony was Minister of Education, Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber, Area Representative Frank “Papa” Mena and Dangriga Mayor Francis Humphreys.  The building of the new facility is part of government’s initiative to erect thirty-five new schools across the country.

Patrick Faber, Minister of Education

“The Government of Belize, through this initiative, is building thirty-five new schools, twenty-two of them are pre-schools across the country.  And when I tell you we are building a pre-school, da noh wahn lee jokey, jokey pre-school.  It‘s going to be a good sized structure, comfortable for the children.  It will even have the little miniature toilets and tables and everything in there is going to be child friendly.  So it‘s going to be a wonderful environment, I know that our teachers are going to be happy with that new environment and I can‘t wait, just like you.  I‘m understanding that it will probably take about six months to construct and so in a little while, a short while we‘ll be back here to cut the ribbon to the building and to open it and to see what a wonderful reality has been realized.”

Frank Mena

“I really want to thank you, Honorable Deputy Prime Minister, for doing this for this community and continuing to do for this community and for us, I really want to say let us cherish it, let us take care of it because it’s not for the government, it’s not for the minister, it’s not for Mr. Humphreys, it’s for us.  See, we’re serious about education and even when the building was written off, the government took over the paying of the rental for the space.  Now how I know that?  Because my ministry is responsible for paying rent, so I know who we pay rent to.  I know every building weh di pay rent, I know because that’s my ministry and if you ask for more, that’s just the government and we have a minister weh love doing for education.  Thank you very much again my brother and thank you, the ministry for doing this.  Again, thank you the neighbourhood for being out here.”
