YMCA hosts family fun day
A family fun day featuring children’s games, sporting activities, information booths and a concert gets underway at the BTL Park on Sunday. The day begins with a family fun run at 8:30 from the Pallotti Junction, goes along Princess Margaret Drive and ends at the park. According to YMCA’s Executive Director Carolyn Gentle, the fun day is part of the Y’s contribution to Children’s Week, February twenty-fifth to March second.

“There’s a variety of games. We’re going to have hopscotch, a kite booth, you come in and make a kite and you get to take it home. You don’t have to worry about paying for kite paper, getting your needles and everything else you would need for that.”

“Will these competitions run simultaneously?”
Carolyn Gentle
“Yes. There will be three-legged races, sack races, eat contests, all those will be running at the same time so your kids won’t get bored. If they are bored at colouring and crayon books, they could then move on to cards, dominoes, jenga. If that doesn’t get them, we have lime and spoon, there’s a live clown show, puppet show, and there’s a teen concert in the evening with YAA, DJ Tambran, and Grace Primary steel pan. So it goes all day. The concert begins at 4:00.”
Games will be free and food and drink will be on sale.
