Meeting Its Target with the Salvation Army’s Kettle Appeal
Back in early November, the Kettle Appeal of the Salvation Army was launched; its annual target for some years now is to raise one hundred thousand dollars in efforts to support its many programmes including the annual children Christmas party held last week and the hamper programme for needy families. Red pots have been placed at popular spots around the city, but even though the funds were initially slow in coming, the organization is close to meeting its target. Salvation Army’s District Commander, Major Jonathan Kellman, gives News Five an update.

“We are very close to that now. With the economy and so many things, I was hoping, but praying because I know that there are a lot of agencies right now that are asking for donations and thing. So again I want to say I am so surprised. We have people that come to the office that say that we haven’t received a letter, but we just come to give a donation. They put a trust in the Salvation Army because of our track record. What I also did is try to help out other small agencies with some of the stuff that we received because I could see what they were doing and they needed a boost so I kinda partnered with a few of them because we cannot do everything on our own. So if we see some other person trying to do something, we pitch in. So yes, the corporate Belize and the public at the kettle spots, really, really, really supported us. I just wanna say thanks. To be honest I feel humble, I feel so much appreciated of the support that once again, another year, the public has placed in the Salvation Army and we promise to do as much as possible.”
