Police Charge Son for Allegedly Butchering His Parents
Thirty-two-year-old Mario Huezo has been charged with two counts of murder. Huezo stands accused of callously killing his parents, Rafael and Nanny Huezo, whose bodies were discovered on Monday morning. They lay dead inside their Orange Walk Town house on Stadium Street. The thirty-year-old appeared before Magistrate Patricia Arana today where he was arraigned for two counts of murder. He was remanded to prison until February twelfth, 2020. During the arraignment, Magistrate Arana also ordered that he undergo a psychiatric evaluation. The incident has shocked the Orange Walk community and following the news of their murder, information suggests that Mario Huezo has been battling with mental illness. Reports also indicate that in recent days, the father had told some friends that his son had been behaving more aggressively than usual and expressed fear for his safety around him. Soon after the gruesome discovery by another son, a manhunt for Mario was launched which led police to Independence Village on Wednesday when he was caught trying to flee in his parents’ Kia Seoul. He resisted arrest, but officers managed to subdue him. Mario remains in detention tonight and investigators are working on establishing a motive since all the evidence collected leads them to Mario.
