Trove of Ammo Found in Belmopan Area
Belmopan Police carried out a number of operations in the Belmopan area over the weekend. One of the operations netted a trove of ammunition. Police say that the more than one hundred rounds of ammo have been labeled as found property because no one was in the area when the discovery was made. Here’s more from ACP Joseph Myvett about the weapons found during the Belmopan operations.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“One of those operations, just outside of Belmopan on the George Price Highway, yielded at a location twenty forty-five rounds of ammunition; fifty-six two twenty-three rounds of ammunition; ten sixteen gauge cartridges; forty-four nine millimeter rounds; twenty-seven seven point six two rounds; two extended magazines for nine millimeter and a home-made shot gun twelve gauge which was found in the Salvapan area of Belmopan. At the time of the operations, no-one was found in these areas, so the items were deposited as found property.”

“Is there any indication if some criminal element or organized criminal element had been using these as a stash?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“We do not know that but what I can say is that where these things were found no one of interest to the police live anywhere in that area that we could connect to the items found.”
