Palacio signs with Celtics for rest of season
In sports news, the roller coaster career of Belizean American basketball player Milton Palacio is once again back on track. After playing only limited minutes during his rookie session as a point guard with the NBA’s Vancouver Grizzlies, Palacio was released from the team. He was picked up this season, however, by the Boston Celtics. There he earned a place in the struggling club’s history books with a desperate three pointer at the buzzer to beat the New Jersey Nets. But the adulation was short lived as Palacio was waived on several occasions and stayed on the team’s roster under two ten-day contracts, while the Celtics looked around for a replacement. In the end, however, good sense and good play prevailed. After scoring nineteen points in two games, Milt was given a contract through the end of the season. At stake was more than just pride as the extension means that the Celtics must pay him an additional one hundred and ninety-eight thousand dollars. That’s U.S., not Belize.
