ComPol Williams: “We Will Never Be Able To Stop It”
Commissioner Williams has given the directive for the illegal airstrip to be destroyed by bombing. He says that all efforts are being made by the department to intercept these drug planes and prevent future occurrences. According to Williams, while strategies are being rolled out, the department will never be able to stop the landing of drug planes in the country.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“The location where the plane landed in hindsight now we are saying that it has four, five different outlets. While we were focusing on the main one there are still others that could have been used. It is an area that are now fully cognizant of and I have already given directives that we will destroy the airstrip so the B.D.F. will go in the area and blow it up. So no plane will be able to land there again unless they go and re-do it. We will ensure that we have constant visit to the area with a view to prevent anybody from fixing it back to be used for an airstrip for illegal landing. These people are very determined. They are very resilient and when they want to get their product out they will find any way possible to get it out. So when these cartels come they not only have a plan A. They have a plan B and a plan C. So if A and B fails then they go to c. That is what happened. The plan A from Mexico failed because of the Mexican air recognisance and so they resorted to plan B. I listened to a school of thought saying that it is either the police don’t have a clue as to what is happening. The truth is, we don’t have a clue without intelligence and the only people who have a clue are those who are involved. Believe you me, the police department and the B.D.F. and at times the coast guard will continue to do all we can to ensure that we minimized the landing of these planes. I am not going to stop because no care what we do, we will never be able to stop it.”
