Rodvern Lino, Commissioner, Ahmadiyya Basketball League
“Ahmadiyya Basketball League is a youth basketball movement now. We’re going into our sixth year and we’ve been everywhere in Belize, we’ve been doing everything basketball in Belize, from international weekend tournaments to district camps to district tournaments to representing Belize in international tournaments in the U.S. and Mexico. So we’ve been doing a whole lot trying to reach as many young people as possible. We’re moving into our sixth league, it is very exciting and highly anticipated. We start on Sunday at nine a.m., at the SJC gym. We’ve grown this year to accommodate five age categories where we normally would have been doing either one or three. This year we are doing five. We have registered so far forty teams hailing from all over the country of Belize and also from bordering Mexico. We’re running three months so we will be doing something like eight Sundays and then moving into playoffs and then finals. We will have an all-star break in the middle and we will be having our highly anticipated slam dunk and three-point competition during that time.”
