FinSec Weighs in on Jumoke Castro Situation
Jumoke Castro is back to work at the Belize Tax Services, after disciplinary action was taken against him following a vile and tasteless social media post made against the wife of Plus TV’s Louis Wade. The Facebook post came on the heels of a domestic violence incident in which the son of Minister Godwin Hulse was charged for common assault against the mother of his child. In responding to an online comment, Castro raised the ire of many and landed himself in hot water. While the Public Service Union has come to his defense, Financial Secretary Joseph Waight says the matter will be taken to the Public Service Commission.
Joseph Waight, Financial Secretary
“That seems to be his defense. He says that’s his explanation, it wasn’t under his signature. The Public Service Union says they were acting on his behalf as a member of the union. We will take that onboard, but I think we are proceeding to take the claim to the Public Services Commission. He will have an opportunity to explain himself, to defend himself, bring a lawyer if he so chooses but that is not done. It’s going to go forward.”

“So as it stands, he remains suspended?”
Joseph Waight
“No, he’s reported back to work.”
