Samadhi Owner in Contact with Belize over Grounding at Reef

The Department of Environment continues to investigate the damages to the barrier reef on February ninth, when a yacht owned by U.S. billionaire investor, Daniel Loeb dropped anchor on the reef. The vessel, named Samadhi, was caught on camera as its anchor wrapped around live corals at the reef near Long Caye in the Lighthouse Reef Atoll.  Today, a report by Bloomberg Green featured a statement by Loeb saying, “As a lifelong surfer and someone who loves the ocean, I was horrified to hear about this incident in Belize. We promptly contacted the Belize Audubon Society, (a conservation group) and are committed to working together to restore the reef.”
