Popular Jeweler on Trial For Murder

The case of popular Belize City jeweler, Manuel Pacheco started this morning before Supreme Court Justice Colin Williams.  Pacheco, who lived on Cockburn Lane, is on trial for the murder of Jose Manuel Villanueva.  Villanueva lived beside Pacheco’s East Collet Canal jewelry shop and was shot multiple times shortly after six o’clock on the evening of June fourteenth, 2018 during an argument between the two.  The two men had been having a history of disputes, since 2012 when they bought adjacent plots of land on East Collet Canal and became neighbours.  The weapon that police had retrieved after the incident was Pacheco’s licensed firearm.   A jury of twelve will decide Pacheco’s fate after the prosecution and the defense are finished presenting their arguments.
