Custom broker charged for stealing dough from bakery
On Monday we told you about the armed robbery of Best Bake Bakery on Western Avenue and today, one of three culprits, a custom broker was charged in the courts. Twenty-seven year old, Leon Pinks appeared before Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie to answer to charges of Robbery and Damage to Property. Pinks pleaded not guilty to both offences but since the crime was committed with the use of a firearm, he was remanded to prison until May seventh. The incident occurred around two on the afternoon of April second when a fifteen year old was robbed at gun point of four hundred and fifty dollars cash at the newly opened bakery. Pinks and two other suspects fled the scene in a white pickup that was parked nearby. The minor’s father, Zebedee Pitterson Junior was alerted and set chase behind the jackers. Pitterson caught up with them on Police Street where Pinks alighted the getaway vehicle and fired several shots at Pitterson.
