Omar Figueroa Takes Oath as Minister for Fisheries, Forestry, Environment and Sustainable Development
Omar Figueroa has been bumped up as substantive Minister for Fisheries, Forestry, Environment and Sustainable Development. The appointment came about as a result of cabinet realignments triggered by the resignation of the embattled John Saldivar. Figueroa is not new to the portfolios since he held these responsibilities under Minister Godwin Hulse, who retains the Ministry of Agriculture. Figueroa took the oath this morning in Belmopan. When he won a by-election in Cayo North in 2015, he was named Minister of State in the office of the PM; thereafter, he was moved to Minister of State under Hulse until today. A number of cabinet colleagues were present when he took the oath.
