John Saldivar Will be Brought in for Interrogation
According to Commissioner Chester Williams, the disgraced former minister, John Saldivar, will be brought in for questioning at some point in time during the investigation. Contrary to what he had previously indicated, Williams reiterated today that the investigation into the allegations of bribery against Saldivar has commenced and will continue when the department puts its hands on the court transcript of the U.S. case against Lev Dermen, who gave Saldivar at least fifty-thousand U.S. dollars. The ComPol says that nothing or no one will get in the way of the investigation into his former boss.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“It is not the government doing the investigation. It is the police. I said before that we have started the investigation. There are certain things that we have done and we are doing. Yes, we need the transcripts in order for us to be able to ascertain exactly what we are going to request from the U.S. I heard about a picture. We might need that picture. I heard about text messages. We’ll need the transcript of those text messages because some say you can go to B.T.L. Let me say that B.T.L. does not store text messages for so long. It is from 2013. B.T.L. no longer has those text messages. We have to see that transcript and whatever the U.S. government may have because they may store longer than us. Then we can also make request to get those text messages as well. So we have to b e careful in terms of what we ask for. I am not here to cover for no one. I was not the commissioner in 2013. I was out of the country studying at Norman Manley Law School. I returned in 2015 when all this matter was over but as the commissioner now who has been tasked to do certain things I have the responsibly to ensure that it is done and it is done to the best of our ability and that is what we are going to do.”

“Sir is it anticipated that at some point during the investigation will also be brought in for questioning or has that been done already?”
Chester Williams
“That has not yet been done but most naturally that he will have to be brought in for questioning”
Hipolito Novelo
“How would you answer the criticism that your relationship with Mister Saldivar might get in the way?”
Chester Williams
“I don’t know what relationship you are talking about.”
Hipolito Novelo
“You are close personal friends.”
Chester Williams
“Mister Saldivar was my boss. Show me somebody who does not have a relationship to some extent, a professional relationship with their boss. Show me. At the end of the day I know me and while many who may want assassinate my character don’t know I know the man that my mother raised. I know what I stand for. I am going to stand for what I stand for. Some people speak and I don’t know if they can face their gods and it makes me wonder.”
