Chester Defends Vidal
Leading the investigation against John Saldivar is Assistant Commissioner of Police Marco Vidal. There are those in the public that are questioning the department’s ability to properly investigate the former U.D.P. minister without any hindrance or interference. Today, Williams shut down the naysayers, expressing full confidence in Vidal and the capabilities of his investigative team.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“My issue is that there is a lot of question out there on the integrity of the police department and the character of Mister Vidal. For me as the commissioner of police my number one responsibility is to always act in the interest of this organization because it is bigger than even me. When people are saying things that we are incompetent, it does not sit well with me because I know for a fact that majority of our police officers are hardworking and dedicated officers. Yes we are not a perfect organization. We do have a few who do things that we are not proud of. I do believe that we have the capability to do a proper investigation into the matter involving the former minister and the subject in question and I also believe that Mr. Vidal is the most competent and the most suitable person to do that investigation.”
Hipolito Novelo
“The Opposition Leader has no confidence in the investigation by the police department into this case and says that Mr. Vidal’s hands may be probably bound.”
Chester Williams
“I don’t know if the Leader of Opposition is the commissioner of police. I don’t know. I don’t know what led him to that conclusion but at the end of the day, as I have said before, I have every confidence in Mr. Vidal’s ability to do the investigation.”
