Major Adran Ramirez Dies in Helicopter Crash

The news of the soldiers’ demise sent shockwaves into the public as family and close friends remain in disbelief. Hyacinth Latchman-Cuellar and her family are close friends with Major Adran Ramirez, who she describes as a disciplined officer. Ramirez leaves behind a wife and children among other relatives. Earlier this afternoon, before the press conference by the Ministry of National Security, Cuellar hoped for the best.

“I was inside the Philip Goldson International Airport. My heart dropped and I told the person beside me, “Uh huh, no, no, no, no, no; noh my friend.” And then I called somebody who is also close to him—we would all get together—and I asked her and I asked one of the other guys, I said, “You hear any news.” And they told me the very same thing I heard at the moment. So all of us started talking to each other, calling each other and again, we are all hoping for the best. I really hope for the best for his wife and children.  I am praying and hoping that he is alive. I know that he can swim. I know that he has very good training when it comes to exactly where I saw the plane landed. So I am hoping that himself and the others were able to get out and swim somewhere to safety.”

“If I am not mistaken, I think he was the man in charge of the airwing at the B.D.F. and has been a career soldier. Talk to us about that.”

“From the best conversations I’ve had with him, one we had very recently, I can tell you that he loves his career; he loves his wife and his children even more than he does the career. So my heart bleeds for them at this time; I am hoping they find him safe and sound. He is very disciplined when it comes to his career. I can tell you that he is a very respectable human being and when it comes to our very last conversation we had, we were talking about the plans he has for the wife and the kids and I was telling him about my husband and plans we have together as a family with our children. That is our very last conversation we had.”
